Masungi Ditse Baras

Masungi Georeserve is located in Tanay, Rizal. In the 80's, this part of Rizal was at the brink of deforestation because of illegal logging. Through the efforts of DENR, local government and private corporation, its flora and fauna have been rehabilitated and now continuously flourish.


Masungi Trail

The Masungi Georeserve is a conservation area and a rustic rock garden tucked in the rainforests of Rizal. Masungi’s name is derived from the word “masungki” which translates to “spiked” - an apt description for the sprawling limestone landscape found within


Masungi Limestone

The Masungi Limestones were formed mostly from the Paleocene epoch 60 million years ago. These formations rose from the ocean through the meeting of tectonic plates. By definition, limestone is a kind of sedimentary rock formed with different kinds of minerals, including calcite, corals and other organisms' exoskeletons.

In 2015, a 300 hectares area that had been rehabilitated from decades of illegal logging, quarrying and deforestation opened to trekkers and adventurers from Manila and beyond. Masungi Georeserve is now one of the most popular geotourism attractions in the Philippines.




Masungi Nanay Rizal

From mining and quarrying to illegal logging and other self-serving interests, Masungi rocks have stood the test of time. Feel like the world is your playground at the Discovery Trail, which is peppered with rope bridges and nets against 66 million year old limestone formations.


Masungi Duyan Bayawak

Bayawak is a shaped like your neighborhood monitor lizard, this rope course is the last challenge visitors encounter before indulging in complimentary after-trail snacks.


Masungi Rizal Tourism

Masungi Georeserve Foundation’s primary mission is the conservation of the Masungi landscape composed of towering limestone pinnacles and 350 species of flora and fauna in Baras, Rizal, Philippines. In December 2015, we opened the georeserve to a limited number of guests to support the conservation of the landscape through geotourism.

Masungi Sapot and Duyan

Masungi bridges and platforms are designed to have the least impact on the natural environment. One of them is Duyan, a 50-meter rope walkway atop the forest canopy, lovingly handwoven by our artisan-rangers. It's the perfect place to meditate and take deep breaths even for just a few moments along the Discovery Trail.
